Client Overview: An agricultural client manufactures a pollen supplement for honey bees, made from a blend of spices, brewer’s yeast, sugar, water, and pollen. Their product creates honey bee pollen patties that look like peanut butter, which are supplied to beekeepers for use in bee hives.
The Problem: The agricultural client was having efficiency issues and labor constraints, so they turned to APEC’s bulk bag unloader. Before using the bulk bag unloader, their workers lifted 50 lb. bags into a machine all day long to help produce the pollen patties. The heavy lifting could result in back and knee strain, posing a risk of long-term injuries.
The Solution: The solution was the bulk bag unloading system. The agricultural client has three systems allowing a consistent production of the honey bee pollen patties. By using the bulk bag unloader, the workers can move large quantities with the forklift so there is no more heavy lifting. It makes the process a lot simpler to produce 21,600 lbs. of product a day, with two shifts per day.
The Result: The bulk bag unloading system helped increase efficiency, eased the workload for the workers, and created safety and production stability.
