Terry Stemler

Terry Stemler will be manning the APEC booth at the 2004 Petfood Forum at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare Hotel March 29th -March 31st.  Make sure to stop by the booth and talk to Terry about the APEC Mistcoater and its performance abilities.  You can also pick up information on the complete APEC product line and see how it applies to your petfood manufacturing needs.

Service Contract Being Developed

In an effort to better serve our customer base, the APEC Service Dept. is developing a program geared toward assisting customers in maintaining their APEC systems and equipment's peak operational performance.  Customer's will be able to enter into a service contract to bring an APEC technician on site yearly or bi-yearly. Once onsite the technician will completely go through any APEC equipment or controls and thoroughly inspect all components, make any necessary adjustments, check calibrations, train personnel and make recommendations.

If you might have some interest in this new program use the link below to let us know.

Dam It

Actual field testing has led APEC engineers to develop a method of further aiding in the retention of the product in the mixing conveyor.  By creating a dam at the discharge end of the mixing conveyor the conveyor runs completely full along the entire length.  The dam is simply a round disc mounted to the mixing screw shafts.  The dam can be slid along the shaft and is locked into place using an integral set collar.  A two piece retrofit kit is available for those installations with existing TMX Mistcoaters.  Use the link below to contact APEC about this retrofit kit.

Mixing Conveyor Tail Bearing Upgrade For Existing Mistcoaters

Do you have an existing Mistcoater with flanged tail bearings and plate seals?  Have you had to replace seals and bearings due to liquid contamination?  APEC now offers an upgrade kit to replace those old flange bearings and plate seals with outboard pillow block bearings and compression seals.

This upgrade kit bolts to the existing mounting holes on the Mistcoater.  No additional field fabrication is required.  If eventually the seal material does begin to leak, simply open the compression fitting and replace it.  You are back up and running in minutes.

Use the link below to contact us for more information concerning a mixing conveyor tail bearing upgrade on your existing Mistcoater.

Double Disk Upgrade For Existing Mistcoaters

Do you have an existing Mistcoater with a single liquid disk?  Upgrade to a double disk configuration for increased performance.  The benefits are:

1.  Increased width of the spray band.  This effectively doubles the amount of time your product falls through the spray area.  This increases the amount of surface area contacted which in turn improves the quality of the initial coating.

2.  Splits the liquid between two disks.  Reducing the amount of liquid per disk also reduces the size of the droplets coming off of the disks.  This helps to improve the consistency and quality of the initial coverage.

Use the link below to contact us for more information concerning a double disk upgrade on your existing Mistcoater.

This Month's Highlighted Product

Mistcoater Liquid Applicator

How It Works

The dry product falls through the machine in a cascading helical pattern.  Simultaneously, the liquid is pumped onto spinning disks located in the center of the cascading product.  The liquid is atomized and flung out into the falling product.

What Are The Advantages?

Multiple liquids can be applied at the same time through the one liquid inlet point on the machine.

No spray nozzles that clog.

No restrictions on the liquid means less head pressure is required of your pumping system.

Combine the Mistcoater with an APEC powder feeder for tack application of Digest, Gravy, Whey etc.

We've Got The Model For Your Application

"T" - Coating chamber with discharge chute

"TMX" - coating chamber with twin screw ribbon and paddle mixing conveyor (pictured at left)

"Inline" - Same technology as the "T" coater but with an overall height of 36" for locations with space constraints

Applications

Includes animal and pet food, the wood particleboard industry and cat litter production.  Also any dry, flowable product requiring an application of liquid.
